Trail Running is a wonderful sport. Instead of pounding the pavement on packed sidewalks, swerving to avoid walking stroller moms and the always-on-the-cellphone businessman, you’re gliding along in Mother Nature’s happy place. Away from the bustle, it’s a great way to stay active, decompress and enjoy the wilderness.
Now imagine running 1000 miles. Imagine running one of those 1000 miles in the Himalayas. Athlete Philippe Gatta is attempting to accomplish this feat in a mere 40 days. Fortunately, Berghaus has released an infographic describing more about their sponsored athlete.
Gatta will run approximately one marathon per day at an average altitude of 4000 meters. Ascending a total of 88,000 meters, Gatta will run in weather that ranges from -25 to 30 degrees Celsius.
